One teardown, start to finish
An aging wood deck came out and a composite deck went back in its place, with black aluminum railings and a proper stair run down to the yard.
That is the job most people call us for. If your posts are soft or the deck moves underfoot, this is what deck replacement actually looks like. If the frame is still sound, you likely want the cheaper re-deck instead, and we will tell you which one you need.

Most deck companies around here only sell composite, because it's the bigger ticket. We'll tell you honestly which one fits your yard and your budget.
Lowest upkeep Composite and PVC
Capped boards from Trex, TimberTech, Azek, Fiberon and Deckorators. No staining and no sealing, backed by 25 to 50 year manufacturer warranties. It costs more up front and less over the life of the deck.

Lowest cost to build Cedar and pressure-treated
Real wood, real grain, and the most affordable way to get a deck built. Cedar holds up beautifully with a re-coat every few years. Pressure-treated is the budget workhorse and it's what most of the frames in this area are made of anyway.

Common questions about building a deck
How much does a new deck cost in the northwest suburbs?
Most decks we build land between $8,000 and $40,000 installed. Material drives most of it. Pressure-treated is the cheapest way to get a deck, cedar sits in the middle, and composite costs more up front and less over its life. Height, stairs and railing style move the number too. Do I need a permit to build a deck?
Yes. Every village in DuPage County and northwest Cook requires a permit for a new deck, and most require one for a full replacement. We pull it and handle the village paperwork as part of the job. See our deck permit guide for how it works town by town.
How long does a deck take to build?
Most decks take two to four weeks of build time once the permit is issued. The permit itself is usually the longest wait and it varies by village. We give you a real start window at the estimate, not a vague promise.
Should I go composite or wood?
It depends on your budget and how much upkeep you want. Composite does not need staining and carries a 25 to 50 year manufacturer warranty. Real wood costs less to build and looks like wood, but cedar wants a re-coat every few years. We build both and we will tell you honestly which one fits. When should I book a deck for next season?
Earlier than most people think. Spring fills up fast around here, so the calendar for March through May is usually spoken for by late winter. January and February are the quiet months and the easiest time to lock a spot.
